About

Founded in Pittsburgh and now also based in Charleston, we look closely at the work you do, the people you need to reach, and what already makes your organization distinct. From there, we decide what to keep, what to improve, and what to create. Strategy, design, and practical guidance come together to make your brand clearer and give your team tools it can use. See how we work.

FAQ

Common questions about working with our team, building a brand, and knowing when the time is right.

Why does a website project start with brand strategy?

Your website needs to explain what you offer, why it matters, and what people can do next. Clarifying your goals, audiences, and message gives the content and design a shared direction. We review the thinking and materials you already have to see what needs further work.

Do we need a new logo or a complete rebrand?

Not necessarily. We keep what serves you well, update what needs attention, and create what’s missing. A recognizable logo may simply need more consistent colors, typography, and supporting materials. The recommendation follows your needs.

How much does a project cost?

Brand Strategy is $3,000 for three workshops covering Goals, Audience, and Message. Website and design work is quoted around your needs, including content, functionality, and existing assets. We discuss your budget and a realistic ballpark before preparing a detailed proposal, so you can decide whether the work makes sense.

How long does a project take?

Brand Strategy typically takes place over three weeks, with flexible pacing. Website and design schedules depend on the scope, content readiness, functionality, and time needed for feedback. We discuss your target date early and agree on a schedule before the work begins.

Do we need to have our website copy ready?

No. You can bring existing content, prepare your own copy, or ask us to scope writing help. When we write, we draw on interviews and your source material, with AI assisting the drafting and human editing shaping the final language. Your team reviews it for accuracy and fit.

How much time will you need from our team?

You’ll help us understand the organization, make decisions, and review the work as it develops. We agree on who needs to participate and what materials each person will provide. For Brand Strategy, agendas arrive in advance, and there’s no required homework before the first workshop.

Who will we work with?

You’ll work directly with John Mahood, who leads the conversations, strategy, and creative direction and stays involved as the work develops. Trusted specialists contribute when a project needs additional expertise or capacity. We can also collaborate with consultants already supporting your organization.

Will we be able to update the website ourselves?

We plan for your team to manage routine content updates. The platform recommendation follows your needs, existing systems, and staff’s comfort with technology. Basic handoff helps you use the finished site, and we can scope additional training when you need it.

What happens after the project is finished?

You receive the agreed assets and relevant Playbook material, bringing useful decisions, standards, and instructions together. You can return for a specific question, arrange regular guidance, or add training and a marketing system for your team. Ongoing support is optional and scoped around what you need.

What do we need to get started?

Just a conversation about what’s happening and what you’d like to change. You don’t need a finished brief or a list of services. The first conversation is free and helps us understand your situation, explore fit, and identify a useful next step.
